13 questions with a male escort

If you aren’t intrigued by the world of escorting, then you’re probably in the wrong place. It’s a world that’s interesting and exciting, but often incredibly misunderstood. To clean up some of those misunderstandings, I wanted to speak directly to someone in the industry. I got to put 13 questions to Frank, a veteran within the escorting world who gave me a peek behind the curtain.

How did you become an escort?

I was looking for additional work and accidentally came across an article about escorting in the UK. I read it, and, frankly, it blew my mind. I knew I had to give it a shot, so I linked up with a local male escort service agency not long after. And, here I am, five years later!

How much do you charge?

I charge £70 per hour, which I think is a modest rate in this business.

What was your first date like?

If you asked me back then, I would have told you that it went spectacularly. However, when I think back to it now, I cringe. I was pretty nervous and was trying to hide it quite unsuccessfully. I remember sweating a lot and babbling like an idiot, but as time went by, things got better, and we had a pleasant evening.

What’s your typical client like? What happens during a date?

A typical client is a single lady anywhere from 30 to 50+ years of age. Most of my clients are independent, successful, educated women looking for an escort to an event or a casual dinner with a man. During a date, I try to be as entertaining as possible within the boundaries of good manners. The client and I drink, eat and chat, which sometimes turns into a fascinating conversation.

Have you ever had a client that you knew personally and had to turn them down?

I’ve never had a client that I knew personally, but I turned a few ladies down for other reasons.

Q: Have you ever caught feelings for a client? Or vice versa?

I have to admit that there were times when I felt a spark with a client. Of course, I didn’t do anything about it as it’s against the rules, and I am a dedicated professional. As for the other way round, I can’t say with certainty, but I suspect that a few ladies liked me a lot.

What are some of the weirdest dates you’ve been on?

The weirdest experience I ever had on a date was with a client who wouldn’t stop talking about her dog. I mean, it’s not super weird, I guess, but it was literally the only thing we discussed for three hours! Whenever I tried to switch the conversation to another subject, she’d go straight back to the dog. I was glad when it was over.

Is it hard to have a relationship when you work as an escort?

Yes, it is definitely challenging. I’ve had a few girlfriends since I started working as an escort, and most of them couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. I don’t blame them, really. I’m sure it’s not easy having your boyfriend go on dates with other women as his job!

Is this a permanent career path for you, or do you see yourself packing it in in the future? What will you do after?

This job is something I see myself doing for another couple of years, that’s for sure. However, I don’t feel like I could do it permanently. After I’m done with escorting, I think I’ll try my luck in the fitness industry as a coach.

Is anything off-limits for you?

Yes, there are lines that I will never cross. For instance, I’ll never kiss clients, let them contact me outside of “work hours” or bring up touchy topics. The rules of this kind of escorting are strict and should remain that way.

What do most people get wrong about escorts?

People think that all escorts have sex with their clients, which is only the case for a specific branch of escorts. Most male escorts in the UK, including myself, offer non-sexual services.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

It’s exhilarating, and I enjoy it tremendously. I love having conversations with the incredible ladies that book me. I’ve grown as a person so much, thanks to this job.

Are there any downsides?

Indeed, sometimes I may feel something for a client, and sometimes I have rather unpleasant or dull dates. I’d say escorting is excellent work, but like most jobs, it’s far from ideal.
