January needs to knob off already. Christmas is officially over, and it’s no longer possible to binge-eat consecutive boxes of Lindt with the support of your family. What is life.
I don’t know about you, but the months of cranked-up heating, showers that are too hot, and drinking too much has finally started to take its toll on my hair and skin. I look like a Walking Dead extra in need of some serious TLC.
But thankfully there’s nothing that chocolate orange and Malbec can ruin, that a restorative beauty regime can’t fix. So here are a few of my favourite winter beauty essentials to help you get through the last chilly months with a glow.
1. Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm, £18
This all-in-one adds shine, moisture, smoothness, makes hair easier to style and speeds up drying time. It takes 30 seconds, if that, to whack through damp hair and leaves your locks healthy and baby soft. Even for damaged bleach blondes! And because it also defines the ends, hair is left smooth and sleek, reducing the need for straightening. A personal triumph after years of post-blow-dry frizz.
2. REN Flash Hydro-Boost Instant Plumping Emulsion, £34
I am absolutely hooked on this. And yeah, I know it’s a bit on the pricier end, but you need to use so little product that it’ll last you ages, so value-wise you’re still winning at life. Apply it like a moisturiser, then add a few droplets of water to activate the formula and lock in moisture. Then voila – skin looks renewed and plumper….it’s a godsend on a hangover day, trust me!
3. Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Face Mask, £21.60
For it’s price, this is still one of the best face masks on the market. The charcoal unclogs pores by drawing out impurities, meaning skin can breathe like normal again. I always use this before a night out as I swear it makes me look at least 5 years younger. Or at least that’s what I tell myself when I get ID’d for the fifth time in a row.
4. NAKED Skin Colour Correcting Fluid by Urban Decay, £17.50

These are like the holy grail of colour correctors. Use peach for dark circles, green for redness and lavender for brightness. They blur and blend beautifully, giving you an even, selfie-worthy skin tone without having to layer on the concealer and foundation.
5. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Daily Moisturiser For Face, £30
If there’s one thing that’s going to save your skin, you bet it’s going to be a good moisturiser. Designed to protect from the effects of extreme weather, this bad boy gives round the clock hydration and softness with added SPF – ideal as we come into Spring!
6. Model Co Highlighting Trio, £17
Trust me when I say this highlighter will give you next level glow. Use the brown for contouring, pink on the apples of cheeks, and champagne for cheekbones, brow bone and inner eye.
