Pores, pores, pores. They’re not fun – particularly when they’re clogged and causing bumps, lumps and spots on your face. Trying to prevent breakouts feels like an ongoing task that never ends. I for one never suffered from clogged pores or spots until I emigrated to Singapore – the humidity, heat, sweat and air con has played havoc with my face. Aside from regular pore extraction facials at a salon which, let’s face it, costs a lot and takes up time we don’t have spare, I needed to find a DIY home remedy to keep my pores clean and face bump free.
So you can imagine how thankful I was when Asian Beauty X reached out to me to see if I wanted to try the Barulab black clay products. Anything to do with clay, I’m all in. Why?

Volcanic Ash and Charcoal might sound “dirty” but Volcanic Ash actually helps rid your skin of bacteria helping prevent breakouts while the Charcoal helps draw impurities off your skin and pores. Truly miracle ingredients.
Lathering into a fine dark foam, this cleanser is also formulated with Amino Acids and Argan Oil that hydrates your skin leaving it feeling soft and without the feeling of tightness. I felt a huge change in my skin after using this the first time. It is soft to go on with no heavy smells or off-putting tingling sensations, but instead really gets to work on your pores. As soon as I finished lathering it on and washing it off, I could feel how soft and smooth my face was after – and this was just the first time I used it. I highly recommend this product.
7 in 1 Total Solution Black Clay Mask; 5x18g, $35
This all-in-one 100% natural cellulose fiber mask is infused with a black clay solution in a process that is exclusive to Barulab. This sheet mask comes in two parts to better fit into the contours of your face. I loved the fact that it’s a sheet mask format but clay – less mess, zero stains, easy to operate and still getting results. After leaving it on around half an hour until it had dried, as you peel off the two halves (upper and lower face are separate masks) you can see how the mask has sucked the debris and bacteria off the skin into the mask. Your skin feels so smooth and fresh after. I love it. I personally aim to use this once a week.
