I’m pretty sure that everyone knows by now via my social media that Tuesday night saw Sex & London City win the Best Sex & Relationships Blog 2014 as voted by Cosmopolitan Magazine.
There were over 46,000 entries (wow) and over 37,000 votes so as you can imagine I am a little overwhelmed still by the whole thing. I have a lot of thank yous and shout outs etc but will come back to this in a bit…for now…let’s talk award ceremony!
Held at the OXO Tower on the South Bank, all nominated bloggers gathered on level 2 for our big night. Pinky Vodka sponsored the cocktails of the evening and my favourite was definitely the Bridget Jones (of course it was!). There was so much to look at and get involved in, including beach selfies with Thomson Travel, hair styling by Remington and a competition and clothes by Next who are the Blog Awards partner. Two Little Cats Bakery were supplying us with tasty cupcake treats as Seekers of the Sun were offering temporary hand tattoos (these were absolutely beautiful!). The London Dolls and MUA Academy were on hand to fix our fluttery lashes and jazz up our make-up. So much to see and do it was difficult to take it all in and get round to every stall!
After sufficient amount of cocktails and bubbly had been consumed (it is the big Awards night – if you can’t drink bubbly then when can you!), we were all called into a separate room ready to take our seats and hear the winner announcements. I genuinely didn’t expect to win as I appreciate that every blog shortlisted in my category were great, so I sat right at the very back. Yep, last row. So you can imagine my absolute shock when I get announced as the winner and have to walk all the way down the isle of bloggers to get to the front and collect my award. The whole thing is still a bit of a blur in my mind I think I was so overwhelmed at the time I couldn’t really take it all in. After the ceremony was over, we headed back into the main room for more celebrational drinkies!! By the end of it, I was quite tipsy I do not mind admitting!
My nails were House of Holland by Henry Holland:
My hair was put up by the talented Issey at House of Rush, Rush chain’s flagship store in Piccadilly. As I have feather hair extensions Issey went with a beach wave up do that stayed in keeping with the ‘festival hippie’ vibe. I had two small braided plaits behind my fringe and a backcomb upper section. I absolutely loved it and would recommend House of Rush for all your hair needs!
My ensemble was put together the day before from things I already had, skirt was from Topshop, the top is Missguided and the shoes are Office:
I met some really amazing bloggers at the ceremony too – shout out to Grace Parry, Tiny Twisst and Fitness on Toast. Also want to congratulate Cupcakes and Cocktales for being Highly Commended in my category. She absolutely deserved the spot and I love her work. Every person who was there should consider themselves a winner – to even be shortlisted out of 46,000 entries is such a huge deal. Actual. Bloggers all work so hard and everyone deserved to be proud of their achievements.
But, for me, I need to be a bit cheesy and do some thank yous (yes it is cheesy but it seems fitting when one wins a big award to send out the love right back to those who deserve it). Firstly, thank you to every single person who voted. I cannot get over it, the support has been huge. I never ever expected to take the award and to know that people voted and the Cosmo panel chose me as the winner just fills me with lots of happiness.
