Could these 3 things be playing havoc with your skin?

For the vast majority of people, being able to take proper care of their skin is something that they consider to be pretty important. *raises hand* After all, your skin is the part of your body that’s not only on display more than any other but it’s also one that’s exposed to the elements a lot of the time. However, issues with your skin can crop up from time to time and that’s something we all have to deal with. Yes, even that person on your Insta will the most alabaster of complexions. If you want to be able to deal with problems with your skin, the most important thing that you can do is to make sure that you know what’s causing them. Get to the root of the problem first, and the solution will follow. With that in mind, here are 3 things that might be wreaking havoc with your skin.

Products

Finding the right beauty products can be a serious challenge for a whole number of reasons. No, scratch that. It can be a NIGHTMARE. It took me years to find products and a routine that worked; it didn’t keep breakouts at bay, but it certainly made a big difference. And it didn’t help that your skin changes as you get older i.e. as you leave the hormonal mess that is puberty. Not only do you want to find products that you like but you want to be sure that they’re ethical, sustainable, and within your budget. But, you also need to be sure that whatever products you’re using actually interact with your skin in positive ways. From cleansing products to makeup brands, if you start to have a bad reaction, the best thing to do is to cut those products out of your routine and find alternatives that don’t negatively impact your skin.

Stress

Let’s face it, we’ve all been feeling extra stressed over the last year but the truth is that modern life can often be pretty stressful all by itself. There are a lot of ways that you can find yourself being impacted by stress but one of the most common is issues with your skin. From breakouts to habits like scratching that damage your skin, the impacts of stress on our skin can be pretty significant. Luckily, there are all kinds of ways to not only beat stress but take better care of your skin during tough times.

Lifestyle

There’s nothing wrong with letting loose from time to time but a lot of people don’t realise just how much of an impact their lifestyle can have on their skin. Whether it’s habits like excessive drinking and smoking or simply staying out all night and not getting enough sleep, your lifestyle can result in your skin really suffering. Not only that but a lot of these effects can be permanent and slow acting so you don’t even realise that they’re happening until it’s too late. This isn’t to say that you need to become a total shut in but, as with all things, it’s good to live in moderation.

Of course, these things aren’t necessarily going to be the root causes of whatever issues you might be having with your skin. There are so many reasons why your skin might not be behaving itself but at least by paying closer attention to it you can come to a better understanding of what those causes might be. And if you find that nothing you do is making a difference, speaking to a medical professional is often the best option.
