Words cannot describe how incredible this place is, and how thankful I am that I got sent on an overnight experience here. I would happily say that this venue is utterly breathtaking, and if you’re ever going on a girly pamper weekend or a couples retreat, then look no further than Galgorm Resort & Spa.
A half hour drive from Belfast International aiport, this 4* resort is set within 163 acres of parkland with the spectacular River Maine flowing through the estate. When I say spectacular, I mean just truly mesmerizing. Take a look for yourselves…
When we arrived, we were escorted to our deluxe suite which had the most amazing balcony view over the spa resort, river and trees. I just kept saying ‘this is ridiculous’ over and over…it’s so stunning it’s hard to take in! We only had half hour to settle into the room before we headed down for our ‘Riverside Bathing Experience‘ aka 60 blissful minutes in a private hot tub on the river front with glasses of champagne, chocolates and river views. Oh my word. If you decide to visit you HAVE to book a private hot tub – just trust me!
We then were taken to the outside sauna for the Celtic Sauna Ritual, which includes a sauna master with different essences inside the sauna, before heading to meditate and chill in The Orangery.
After our spa treatments, we had a 4 course dinner booked at their Italian restaurant Fratelli. Ermmmm….the food was incredible. I just couldn’t finish it all (especially with the Prosecco) but it was so tasty. Then we headed to their onsite pub for some live music…which turned into a rather tipsy night. When I say tipsy, I mean we were buying rounds and rounds of shots for people and didn’t leave until closing. Well, when in Rome and all that.
Yeah, when in Rome is great…until you wake up the next morning feeling like you’ve been hit by a bus. Luckily, we had a proper Irish breakfast booked in, so headed down to the river conservatory for breakfast and A LOT of coffee. He had like, 5 cups within an hour. We both felt like broken humans, so took a wander around the resort before heading to the spa to make use of the facilities before we flew home that evening.
We managed to kick out the hangover in the sauna and snow room (I didn’t brave it, no way) as well as the outside Jacuzzi. By the time it came to checking out, I wanted at least another night here to carry on relaxing and making memories together. This place is now so special to me and we already cannot wait to go back. The views are stunning, the resort is immaculate and the staff are impeccable. Everyone is so helpful, so professional and make you feel extremely welcome from the get go.
I will 150% be going back as soon as I can, and I cannot thank Jane and everyone at the resort enough for organizing this trip for us. Was just what we needed. If you’re after a mini break to de-stress and get away from ‘normality’ for a wee while, Galgorm Resort & Spa needs to be top of your list.
