Spring Summer 2017 awakens a new chapter in the design phase of Fei Feng and her label “Fei Fei Cicada”. Following on from her graduate collection, this season Fei indulges herself between dreams and reality, designing dresses for a Palace she envisions as belonging to no country, time or space.
Hand pleated fabrics and rich embroideries are a continuous running thread throughout the collection, these are intertwined perfectly with satins, organza and tulle. The entire line is hand made by Fei from her London studio, with glimpses of antique golds, copper and metal complimenting the base colours of coffee, champagne and burgundy. In her pursuit for innovation and difference, this collection captures the harmony between man and nature.
This season Fei Fei Cicada has partnered with Anne Veck to create the hair and Kitty Noofah for the make-up. Fei’s choice of venue was based on the sense of mystery that the Victoria and Albert Museum encompasses, being so full of art and fashion history, this felt like the perfect space to showcase the collection.
Fei Feng offers us this famous Chinese quote in the run up to her show “Broaden the mind to make it inclusive; humble the mind to make it tolerant; rest the mind to make it recognize the natural law; present the mind to make it manage the changes in the world” Fei Feng embodies a rare devotion to designing and she has never forgotten her responsibility in respecting this craft.
