On Pedder’s Shoes & Accessories Key Trends for Autumn / Winter 2020

Sure, 2020 has pretty much been a right off from start to finish for most of us. The ‘new normal’ is a life full of restrictions, no bars, no clubs, working from home has replaced daily office trips and the mask makes lipstick completely pointless.

That being said, for many of us, we refuse to keep our spirits down and our glamorous lifestyle a mere memory. No, 2020, we will not let you do that to us. You can take our travelling freedom, you can take our 3am closing clubs but you cannot take away our sense of style. Nor can you take away our desire for retail therapy and brand new shiny shoes, stunning statement jewellery and matching arm candy.

““The period that is opening up right now is a revolutionary period in which everything can be reinvented,” said Jean Touitou, founder of French brand, A.P.C., in his open letter to the fashion industry. We couldn’t agree more. Through an idiosyncratic edit and delivery of ideas, On Pedder is the embodiment of the discovery, emotion, and culture of footwear. We see these unusual times as an opportunity to grow, adapt, and innovate – this season, not only are we continuing to deliver fashion forward edits, we are also introducing creative virtual presentations and special projects designed to inspire, such as live stream designer engagements and local collaborations.”

So, on that note, On Pedder presents it’s new winter collection, depicting key trends that will keep our 2020 winter fashion-forward…stuck at home.

Shine Like a Diamond

20 years on, are the 2000s due for a comeback? From Simone Rocha’s glittery lattice handbags to Area’s crystal fringe kitten heels and René Caovilla’s crystal-embellished sandals, designers have decided that this is the season to drip with bling (or at least turn heads with a dash of sparkle).

Hip Hop to Runway

The chunky, cool oversized chain necklaces of Spring Summer have made their way to accessories and shoes this season. Proenza Schouler and Jil Sander present their own respective interpretations of the modern chain-link shoe.

Alpha Female

It seems the heavyweight boot is here to stay, with brands offering a cool-girl take on classic combat and mid-calf boots through updated fabrics, lug soles, and hybrid designs.

Less Yet More

A refreshing palette cleanser to much of the over-the-top stylings of Autumn Winter, the minimalist aesthetic remains a discreet yet powerful force across many designer collections. Thin straps and clean lines feature prominently in footwear from Neous, and Alexander Wang, while the chic square toe returns with a refined, conceptual approach at A.W.A.K.E. Mode and Paciotti.
