Sian Dellar is a permanent make up specialist in the heart of the West End – Harley Street to be exact. She’s an award winning cosmetic beauty therapist who is trained in various procedures for the eyes, eyebrows and lips. I darken and define my eyebrows every day, so when I discovered Sian Dellar’s microblading method, I decided to give my brows a makeover. Sian…microblade me!!!
The salon is easy to find, welcoming and Sian Dellar personally invites you into her treatment room. Having had no clue what microblading is, Sian talked me through the entire procedure before starting. We discuss my brow goals including size, shape and colour, she draws the desired style in and once both happy…the numbing cream goes on. This feels a little odd to start with but you’ll soon get used to it.
After the cream has done its business, Sian then starts the microblading process. What actually is microblading anyway? Good question…I personally had no idea prior to meeting her. Sian explains on her website:
“Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow treatment that is carried out using a specialised manual hand tool which holds disposable microblades, and implants colour onto the skin.
No machines! No needles!”
The tool, as seen below, is used to create very tiny cuts in the surface of the skin, akin to hair strands, which is then filled in with pigment that matches your natural brow colour (or darker if you so desire). The end result is very natural ‘hair stroke’ looking eyebrows that are permanent! YAY!
Does it hurt? I’d say no. It’s uncomfortable for sure, but it feels more just a bit ‘scratchy’ and then you get used to it. The most it made me feel is rather watery in the eyes. Sian is very quick and professional and the whole sitting takes around an hour.
After this, you get given ample post-procedure care, in which I was instructed not to get them wet or sweat for 7-10 days after, and use coconut oil on them twice a day. They’re basically in need of time to ‘heal’ and the pigment needs time to set. What you have to be prepared for with microblading, is that 50% of the pigment will fall out after the first sitting. This is completely normal. So, 4 weeks after your first visit Sian will invite you back to top up your brows with more pigment, thus giving you 100% eyebrow pigment.
The result? Perfectly shaped eyebrows that do not need daily attention.

I asbolutely LOVE MY NEW EYEBROWS!!! Not only am I so glad I got them done, I am regretful I didn’t get these bad boys sooner. Long gone are the days I have to draw them in daily, matching them up in the mirror, running out of eyebrow filler or pencil. Urgh. Now, I wake up and they’re already pretty damn perfect. Sian – you’re a Queen. I heart you so.
To get your eyebrow game strong, or any other cosmetic procedure, head over to Sian Dellar’s site and check out her work. She comes highly recommended by me!
