Singapore’s Homegrown Jewellery Atelier Carrie K. Introduces New Lotus Collection

Award-winning Singapore jewellery brand Carrie K. is pleased to introduce its new Lotus collection. Inspired by the lotus flower — one of the most significant flowers in Asian culture — the new collection joins the extensive selection of modern heirloom jewellery that takes traditional Asian beliefs to create contemporary designs that tell a story.

The Lotus collection also marks Carrie K.’s renewed commitment to combining traditional Asian heritage with modern design to create beautiful jewellery that tells meaningful stories. Like all other collections in the brand’s repertoire, the Lotus collection symbolises a wish: A wish for harmony for the wearer and their loved ones. The new collection also heralds a refreshed logo and updated suite of services for the brand, which has just welcomed two in-house gemologists that are certified by the Gemological Institute Of America. Each piece in Carrie K.’s contemporary repertoire is designed to mark life’s milestones, and in celebration of engagements, weddings, and every day after.

The Lotus Collection

The lotus flower presented in full bloom makes for the perfect symbol of harmony. In Mandarin, the word lotus (荷花, hé huā) sounds phonetically similar to harmony (和谐 hé xié), making it the ideal embodiment of unity and peace across generations. The tradition of gifting si dian jin (四点金) from a mother to her prospective daughter-in-law holds great significance. The phrase ‘si dian jin’ — which commonly refers to the four items of gold given by a mother-in-law to a bride before her wedding — literally means ‘four points of the Chinese roof’.

Here, the phrase symbolises the ultimate wish of harmony from the in-laws, signifying their desire to welcome the new bride under their own roof as one of their own. The new Lotus collection, all of which include the elegant motif of the flower in full bloom, serves as the epitome of this blessing – a wearable wish for harmony within oneself and with their loved ones. Designed for generations that are and generations to come, the Lotus collection is Carrie K.’s wearable wish for harmony, and a meaningful talisman to mark new beginnings and precious milestones alike.

Central to the 8-piece Lotus Collection are custom-cut Type-A Burmese Jadeite in three colours, Green, along with limited edition Ice and Lavender Jadeite in specific designs. The collection also features a selection of necklaces, stackable rings, bracelets, bangles and multi-way earrings in 14k Yellow and Rose Gold. A first for the brand, the Lotus Collection features a selection of tri-coloured pastel sapphires. The purple, pink and green sapphires recall the different varieties and hues of the lotus flower. AAA Grade Akoya Pearls prominently feature in several key pieces of the collection, such as the Lotus ear drops, necklaces and bangles.

Like so many other pieces in Carrie K.’s repertoire, pieces in the Lotus collection were designed to be transformable and easily matched across other collections — ear jackets and ear drops that append to the main ear stud or hoop, making them infinitely wearable for both the wedding day and every day after.

Every collection from Carrie K. symbolises a wish you select for your loved ones or yourself. The Blessings collection takes inspiration from 五福 (wǔ fú), or the ‘five blessings’, a concept that signifies the blessings needed for a good life in Chinese culture — health, wealth, prosperity, longevity and peace of mind, representing a wish that its wearer is bestowed with these five blessings. In Star, which takes inspiration from the star motif in the Malay Songket, the collection reflects the essence of “Gotong Royong”, or the Kampung Spirit, symbolising a wish for unity and harmonious relationships. And finally, in the new Lotus collection, itsymbolises a wish for harmony, carrying with it the message: “May you be in harmony with yourself and your loved ones.”

Carrie K.’s atelier is located at the National Design Centre, 111 Middle Rd, #02-02, and is open from Monday to Sunday, from 11am to 7pm.
