On the basis of the storming success that last year’s Rock Ball held, I anticipated the 2012 version in the hopes that it raised the level of the event even higher…and I was not let down. Held last week at London’s prestigious Hurlingham Club, we all donned our ball gowns and suits to enjoy the third annual Rock Ball organised by Rick Parfitt Jnr who, following his own personal battle with Crohn’s disease, set up The RPJ Crohn’s Foundation in 2010.
Through this flagship event, Rick’s aim was to bring together rock royalty and fashion for an unforgettable evening; altogether raising awareness and funds for Crohn’s & Colitis UK.
After a champagne reception and three course sit down meal, there was a live auction to raise money for the charity. To keep the guests entertained at their tables, Rick plays host to a very glamorous high-fashion show produced by the gorgeous RPJ Crohn’s Foundation patron, Sophie Louise Anderton showcasing the latest collection of celebrity loved Swim and Beachwear by Melissa Odabash. I was there to assist the lovely Sophie Anderton (who has become such a great friend to me and I have so much time for this woman) with the running of her remarkably produced show and boy was it a show stopper! I cannot praise Sophie and Melanie enough, they worked so hard and together we ran a tight ship…pulling off an awesome catwalk show with beautiful BMA models.
As usual, the event turns into a massive party where the guests are treated to live music from chart-topping British band The Feeling, solo singer-songwriter Melanie C who performed an awesome rendition of ‘baby when your gone’ with Rick Parfitt Snr, Status Quo, Sophie Ellis-Bexter AND of course the Rick Parfitt Jnr rock band. We can all still have a boogie in a ball gown! This was definitely an event to remember and I cannot wait for the next one! I had the most perfect dress for this event, a pre-season VIP Lipsy floor length gown. I felt like a Grecian Goddess! Celebrities in attendance included – Melanie C, Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Brendan Cole, Amber Le Bon, Elen Rivas, Nicky Clarke, Rick Parfit.
