Friday night saw the eagerly anticipated Sex and London City Opening Party for London Fashion Week…and I’m so glad to say I didn’t disappoint! With my publicist Karena Sedgwick and the Fashion Forward PR team behind the event, we threw a party to remember!
Held at the prestigious venue Kensington Roof Gardens, our guests arrived to flutes of brut and rose Tsarine champagne who were kind enough to sponsor the party, surrounded by the beautiful gardens in the marquee. The setting was perfect and set the tone for the rest of the evening. First up for entertainment, I had L.A based musicians Early Morning Rebel fly over to perform for me on the night. Josh, Nathan and Dustin held together a beautiful acoustic set that had everyone gather in front of the stage to listen to their tracks, including ‘Lifeboat’ which is the new song for the U.S TV show Grey’s Anatomy. Dubbed the new ‘fashion IT band’ by Cosmopolitan UK two weeks ago, they had a lot to live up to and totally blew everyone away. This was only their second live performance over here in the U.K and I am shocked about how professional and on trend the are.
While EMR headed off to grab themselves a well deserved glass of bubbly, the guests were then treated to a fashion show by Lethal Models, Aletha Shepherd and Jones & Jones who rocked both new season womenswear and menswear. The red flower print skater dresses were stunning and perfect for the spring season! The collections certainly caught the attention of the paps and my fashionista guests.
To crank the party up a gear, I had my gorgeous girl Gabriella Ellis from TV show Made in Chelsea perform a set with her live band. On the show, we don’t often get to hear her sing and I think everyone, including myself, was shocked at just how talented she really is. Belting out her hit single ‘Fight’ (as featured on the show), her band really shook the crowd up and got people on their feet. It was crammed inside the venue, so Gabriella had to push her vocals for everyone to hear and she did an amazing job!
Following suit and last but definitely not least was Angelo, a New York based singer who is a fabulous guy, great friend and awesome performer. He opened his set with a tribute to both Whitney Houston and Etta James, combining two massive songs and hitting every note perfectly during ‘At Last’. He knows how much I love this track and I think he did it complete justice, as did his backing singer Raff. I am so proud to know such talented people.
As if this wasn’t enough for one night, after my rather tispy thankful speech (in which, apparently, I said ‘amazing’ every other word) we all headed out to the Spanish gardens to watch the fireworks that Kensington Roof Gardens were kind enough to put on that night for my guests, as celebration of both the party and the opening day of London Fashion Week.
Guests included Pandemonia, who worked his usual outragous and utterly individual style, along with fashion icon Stephen Mahoney, ex Neighbour actor Dan O’Connor who is now showing his adorable face in Hollyoaks, socialite Lizzie Cundy, singer Stacey Jackson who has just recorded a hit song with Snoop Dogg, Katie Price’s new protegee Amy Willerton and the crew from TV show Take Me Out. We also had fellow bloggers attend, London based fashion labels and up and coming designers, not to mention there were hoards of press both inside and waiting outside the venue that included Heat Magazine, ITN, OK Magazine and New Magazine.
I got a lot of questions asking where my dress was from…it was sent to me by the ladies from Girl Meets Dress. I loved it, even if the trail became a bit of an issue when the place was so extremely rammed with people. I can’t thank everyone enough for all their hard work to make such a fabulous party and I am so happy to hear nothing except positive feedback! My personal special thanks (here comes a huge list!) goes out to Karena Sedgwick, Zoe from Fashion Forward PR, Giorgio from GM Photography, Luke Yates Photographer, Dominic from UIA, Gemma Wills from Lanson International, Gabriella Ellis, Lethal Models, Stephanie Barrett, EMR, Angelo and the wicked Brad Taylor who got those gorgeous lads across the pond in the first place. Here are some more delightful photos from the night… enjoy people. Bring on the next one in September!
