Three trends to try in 2022

Whether you have a passion for fashion or don’t follow the trends at all, everyone goes through stages where they are bored of their look. Most people fall into the habit of treating their clothes as a uniform and stick to wearing the same few pieces on rotation. While dressing in the same clothes most of the time may make life easier; it certainly does not make it exciting. If you want to refresh your look and add some extra interest to your wardrobe this year, why not turn your attention to the catwalks. While lots of the clothes you see on runways at London, New York, and Paris Fashion Weeks may not be practical for everyday wear (or within budget), you can still take inspiration from the general trends spotted on the catwalk.

If you want to introduce some high-fashion trends to your wardrobe, why not try some of these looks:

Bright colours

One catwalk trend that was difficult to miss this year was the many bright colours gracing the runway. From shades of sunflower yellow to traffic light red, bold colours were everywhere at this year’s fashion shows. This bold trend was colour-blocked for maximum impact on the runway, but if head to toe brights are too much for you, you could try adopting a more pared-back version. Introducing some brighter colours to your wardrobe is sure to help you break free from a style rut and liven things up a bit. You could try wearing one colourful item with an otherwise neutral outfit, or let your accessories do the talking by introducing some bold colours.

Streetwear

Streetwear has been popular for a while now and certainly shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. Taking inspiration from the eighties and nineties, streetwear embraces the surfer, skater, and hip-hop subcultures of the time to create a laid-back look with plenty of attitude. For a fresh take on the streetwear style, you could opt for streetwear pieces from brands you have never worn before, such as Good for Nothing and layer them up with some of your favourite streetwear pieces for a fresh new look.

Y2K

The noughties may not have been that long ago, but enough time has passed for Y2K fashion to become fashionable all over again. Turn of the millennium fashion has a very distinctive style. It is pretty different to anything seen in previous decades or since that time, so you may prefer to take elements inspired by this era rather than embracing the entire trend. If you plan to shop for some Y2K pieces for your wardrobe, choosing noughties staples is a great idea to give you a base to work from with a nod to the era. Wide-legged faded denim jeans are a good call, velour tracksuits are also a winner, and while they look like loungewear, these were acceptable outdoor attire during the noughties. So, there are plenty of ways to adapt Y2K style twenty years later.
