To usher in the mid-autumn festivities this year, Janice Wong Singapore presents a thoughtful selection of baked, snow skin and signature chocolate mooncakes. A treasured highlight of the annual celebration, the Singaporean chef continues to merge food and art in a seamless manner, evident in unique flavours and whimsical designs.
“We wanted to go back to comforting flavours with a twist,” says Chef Janice. “In a turbulent year, we wanted to bring back some comfort and joy to our guests during this auspicious occasion.”
Signature Chocolate Mooncakes
Janice Wong Singapore’s signature drip painted Chocolate Mooncakes (S$98 for a box of eight) returns this year, offering a delectable range of new and familiar flavours for fans. Set on a base of chocolate sponge, flavours like Coffee & Chocolate with lashings of kopi ganache, Caramelised Sea Salt Pecan Dark Chocolate, and Peanut Butter Snickers with peanut butter paste and salted caramel ganache, are spins on classics. For the non-conformist, the Coconut Vanilla Biscoff with its crunchy Biscoff crumble with hints of caramel and vanilla ganache, will hit the spot. Two of each flavour are stored in a classic round tin and can be stored frozen for up to two months, so save them for a hankering later on, if you can resist!
Traditional Baked Mooncakes
For the traditionalist, the Double Yolk with Lotus Paste baked mooncakes (S$88 for a box of four) is sure to please — perfect for corporate gifting. The simple geometric design showcases the signature Janice Wong Singapore logo in the centre, individually sealed in striking red tins adorned with whimsical images of bunnies, lanterns and the moon, inspired by the legendary Mid-Autumn tale of the Rabbit in the Moon. Four tins are housed in a beautiful Milky Way-inspired dark blue box.
