For Spring-Summer 2023, German luxury fashion house, MCM continues its voyage to the virtual, introducing a collection which references and reinterprets the natural world through a cyberpunk aesthetic. From animal-inspired prints to pixelated patterns, the collection takes consumers on a journey from nature to couture, where the organic and the digital converge.
Looking to a world that’s as playful as it is irreverent, the collection introduces three distinct capsules which focus on exquisite tailoring, graphics applications, pattern and material which capture the essence of the house’s high-quality craftsmanship:
The first capsule, Meta Safari, transports us to the Serengeti of the future, complete with khaki and monochrome looks cast in bold silhouettes. Fresh from the planetary nature reserves, the Meta Safari’s digital-age designs take us on a voyage through the sophisticated side of conservation.
The second capsule contains cyberpunk at its core, delivering us to an urbane metropole. The Cyberpunk capsule features leather jackets which hint at high-end punk and radical, music-inspired subcultures, alongside striking checkerboard-print bags reminiscent of the pixels which comprise vintage video games. Ideal for strolling down skyways or surveying the bar scene, these styles mix deep black tones with a burst of vibrant neon color – perfectly capturing the gritty, glittering city.
From wild landscapes to urban cityscapes, the third capsule takes us past the rising coastline and down into our planet’s watery depths. Meta Ocean brings us on a submerged safari, with smart, engineered nylon jackets and water reflection graphics merging with luminous animal prints for an eye-catching, unique experience of the world beneath the tides.
Together, the Meta Safari, Cyberpunk, and Meta Ocean capsules take consumers on a fast-paced journey while exploring the varied landscapes of the future.
