Remember when we could just hop on a plane to anywhere? But then 2020 happened and we just don’t have that freedom anymore.
Whether it’s the fact that I haven’t been on holiday for so long, or the fact that someone is telling us that we can’t go, but travelling has NEVER BEEN MORE APPEALING TO ME. I have to admit that I really miss it. Once again I find myself being bitten by the elusive travel bug.
But right now it’s an itch that can’t be scratched. Traveling is one of the most wonderful things in the world for so many reasons but it can often be kind of a scary prospect if you’re new to it all. But, there are always things that you can do to make life easier for yourself. So, with that in mind, here are some things to remember if you find that you’ve been bitten by the travel bug.
Think ahead with luggage
Who doesn’t love shopping. And while it may not sound exciting, shopping for new luggage gives a different kind thrill altogether. Luggage is awesome, and there’s SO much to choose from. And as romantic as the idea of jetting off with nothing but the shirt on your back can be, the truth is that it’s seriously difficult to travel without any luggage. The issue is how you deal with getting around without having to worry about your suitcase.
Luckily, there are a lot of good options. Obviously, if you’re staying in a hotel you can leave it all there, but if you’re stuck in a position where you would otherwise be lugging around a suitcase, there are solutions available to you. There are plenty of storage solutions specifically for left luggage. That way you can be sure that it’s safe while freeing you up to enjoy your trip unburdened.
Sort your money out
It would be so wonderful to be able to travel without worrying about money. We’ve all read the stories about people who jetted off with nothing and worked their way around the country, but sadly, that’s just not something that the vast majority of us can get away with. Money is always going to be a factor when traveling and that means that you have to be careful with it. There are a lot of hidden expenses when traveling that you should consider carefully. Not only that but you need to think of how you’re going to avoid spending too much by accident. Things like only using cash can make a big difference as well as having a dedicated card just for emergencies.
Plan to have the best trip
Some trips can be spontaneous and that’s wonderful. However, the truth is that the vast majority of travel requires at least a certain degree of planning. From knowing when and where you’re traveling to and from, to finding things to do while you’re there, one of the most common reasons for disappointing trips is a lack of planning that leads to being unable to figure out how best to spend your time.
The reality of traveling is that, when all is said and done, there’s no single way to do it. For as many different kinds of people as there are, there are as many different ways to travel. Maybe you want to take a trip in the lap of luxury, maybe you want to rough it and hit the trails. Maybe you want to head out on your own or maybe you and some friends are getting ready for a serious road trip. The key is to figure out what excites you about traveling and embrace it.
