As someone with a growing selection of sex toys of all different types, I am certainly not opposed to new players entering the game. Sex toys have evolved so much over the years to become innovative and fascinating pieces of technology, and a couple of weeks ago I got to celebrate the launch of a new brand with incredible ideals about what sex toys should be.
In case you didn’t already know, I am not based in London. Shock horror! As editor of a blog with the title ‘Sex and LONDON City’, it’s what you’d expect. But no, I live in not-so-sunny Manchester. However that made me even prouder when I was invited to the launch of Innocent Sex Toys, who are to be based in the wonderful North.
I took my good friend Rebecca along for the ride, so at 8:30pm on a cold Friday night, we pulled up to the Cirque Burlesque Club.
First impressions? What an incredible venue! It is a private members-only club that is absolutely gorgeous on the inside. Upstairs, there’s a champagne bar. Downstairs, however, there’s a Red Room, complete with floor length mirrors, chandeliers, and sex furniture. It was still a work in progress, but it looked incredible.
As part of my attendance as a blogger, I got to sit down with Rachael, one of the two owners of Innocent Sex Toys. May I add, one of the two female owners – something else I love to say; women kicking ass in female-orientated industries.
She told me that the goal of Innocent is not to become the next Ann Summers or Lovehoney; they actually don’t want to go mainstream. On the other hand, the goal of Innocent is to remain bespoke, unique and to handcraft toys with care and attention.
Innocent don’t just make and sell sex toys, they also sell bondage gear, made-to-order leather wear and whips and paddles. And the wonderful thing about them is, if you place an order for a black harness but want it in brown and in a certain size, then they will make it exactly to your specifications. Your sex life truly deserves the best, and Innocent put that first.
Once I’d had a chat with Rachael – and been handed a gorgeous Svakom sex toy wrapped in a goodie bag – we went downstairs to hear speeches and toast the future of Innocent with shots all round. Champagne was practically on tap, the setting was beautiful and I was in good company. What an amazing night and thank you to Innocent for having me!
