Hosted and curated by The Hedonist Store, Introduction to Kink is an informative talk & demonstration organized with the intention to spread the message of sex-positivity and to destigmatize the topic of BDSM & Kink. It’s first edition was a huge success.
Led by seasoned experts SGDomSubs, they gave an insight into the elusive world of the BDSM scene/culture in Singapore – which has been active for over 10 years. Held at 1880 – a private members club known for its controversial conversations and global salon topics.
The event ‘Intro to Kink’ had a strong line up that allowed the experts educate the attendees, including presentations from SGDomSubs and a live rope demo. A far cry from being anything to hold shame – this event was exciting, empowering and delivering epic feel-good vibes to everyone in the room.
With ‘Intro to Kink’ and other similar events, The Hedonist Store seeks to educate the public about sex- positivity through open dialogue and discussion in a social and fun way. Allowing everyone to engage and express themselves with trained local and international professionals. The intention is to create a more open-minded and inclusive community that will enhance, inspire, reconnect and strengthen lifestyle experiences through a safe environment without judgement whilst also being female forward.
Sexual Wellness is vast becoming more visible and relevant in the global market. With an estimated worth of $39 billion in 2017 and expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.4% to reach $122.96 billion by 2026. The demand for sexual products from emerging economies, increasing online retailers, growing incidences of STIs, #metoo movement and awareness about sexual wellness products has also greatly impacted people to take action. To preserve and improve one’s own wellbeing, happiness and empowerment, pushing strong market growth in the global wellness industry.
Wellness is fast becoming the #1 priority of millennials and younger generations – beyond the increasing fitness culture (e.g. Yoga, boxing, HIIT, etc), for the average millennial, pleasure is seen as a necessity for their well-being and not just a luxury.
The Hedonist Store’s goal is to move away from seedy-looking confusing retail shops and destigmatize the taboo topic of pleasure. To allow people, especially women to feel liberated, be more attuned to their body, feel sexier, confident and empowered through their curated products and events.
Advocating the belief for a holistic well-rounded lifestyle that encompasses mental, physical, spiritual and sexual well-being in the pursuit of pleasure, knowledge and self-awareness.
Looking forward to watching these #girlbosses move from strength to strength here in Singapore – and bravo for speaking about taboo subjects with such sophisticated positivity!
