Some designers find inspiration in nature. Others find it through cinema. For Autumn/Winter 2026, CHOCHENGCO brings the two together in BLOWUP, a couture collection that transforms enlarged floral forms into sculptural works of fashion.
Presented during Paris Haute Couture Week, the collection takes its name from Michelangelo Antonioni’s iconic 1966 film Blow-Up, which centres on the idea of looking closer until hidden details begin to emerge. CHOCHENGCO applies that same philosophy to flowers, magnifying delicate petals beyond their natural scale and reimagining them as dramatic silhouettes that blur the line between art and couture.
Continuing the cinematic narrative, the runway itself was staged inside a Paris film studio, bringing the world of filmmaking into the presentation and reinforcing the collection’s visual storytelling.
Colour plays a leading role throughout the collection, drawing inspiration from the oversized floral paintings of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Rich crimson, soft ivory, blush pink and vibrant botanical hues echo her iconic canvases, where a single bloom becomes an entire landscape. Subtle references to the celebrated 1980s British Airways advertisement featuring The Flower Duet from Delibes’ Lakmé further reinforce the collection’s romantic atmosphere.
At the heart of BLOWUP is CHOCHENGCO’s signature hand-sewn petal technique. Individually crafted and carefully applied across bodices, sleeves and hems, each petal creates movement, texture and extraordinary depth, giving the garments an almost lifelike quality. Elsewhere, hand-ruched cotton organdie recreates the delicate folds of flower petals, translating O’Keeffe’s paintings into couture through craftsmanship rather than print.
True to the house’s commitment to conscious luxury, the collection is crafted entirely from vegan, natural materials, with cotton serving as the foundation throughout. Crystal embellishments introduce moments of light and sparkle, accentuating the collection’s sculptural silhouettes without distracting from its intricate handwork.
With BLOWUP, CHOCHENGCO once again demonstrates that couture is as much about artistry as it is technique, proving that inspiration can be found by simply looking a little closer.
